BEIJING: National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Chairman Qamar Zaman Chaudhry on Friday held a meeting with Huang Chuping, member of the Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) in Hubei province and discussed matters of mutual interest.
Speaking on the occasion, the NAB chief said that Pakistan had chalked out a comprehensive strategy to eradicate corruption through holistic approach of awareness, prevention and enforcement. He said that Pakistan was a role model for SAARC countries in eradication of corruption, as Pakistan was the only country in the regional forum, whose Corruption Perception Index (CPI) – according to the Transparency International in 2014 – decreased from 175 to 126 and further to 117 in 2015.
Huang appreciated NAB’s efforts under the leadership of its chairman and talked about strategic partnership between the two countries for the elimination of corruption. He said that China attached huge importance to its relations with Pakistan and signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the two countries for collaboration in anti-corruption was of pivotal importance in this perspective.
He expressed hope that cooperation in eradication of corruption between the two countries would be enhanced.
